Michael Chaney is a Technical Advisor for the Florida Housing Coalition and manages training and assistance for the statewide network of 119 SHIP program offices. Michael’s work focuses on housing program administration, enhancing rehabilitation strategies, income eligibility, and leveraging billions of dollars of SHIP with Housing Credits and federal housing programs. Michael worked with state SHIP funders to write a strategy to provide assistance in purchasing a Community Land Trust (CLT) home and co-wrote the Coalition’s Disaster Preparedness Manual. He has assisted the statewide network of SHIP administrators with disaster response to Hurricanes Michael, Irma, Matthew and Hermine. Michael has more than 25 years of experience providing technical assistance to local government, nonprofit housing professionals, and consumers throughout Florida. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans and a Master of Social Work from Florida State University, where he has served as an adjunct faculty member of the housing department.
