The FHC is the State of Florida’s affordable housing training and technical assistance provider. The Florida Housing Coalition is commonly acknowledged as the foremost authority in Florida on affordable housing, community development and related issues, as a clearinghouse for information, a provider of training and technical assistance, and an advocate at the state and national levels for people in need of affordable housing.

State Housing Initiative Partnership Program (SHIP)

The State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) provides funds to local governments as an incentive to create partnerships that produce and preserve affordable homeownership and mulitfamily housing. The program was designed to provide very low, low and moderate income families with assitance to purchase a home, money to repair or replace a home, and many other types of housing assistance. Technical assistance is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays by calling 1-800-677-4548.


Online web-based training

This training addresses the "SHIP Income Qualification Process".  Created in 2002, this web-based curriculum allows a SHIP staff person to learn at his or her own pace. Click here to start the training.

Certifications

The Coalition has developed training curricula designed to improve the skills of affordable housing providers in the state.  The Core Curriculum consists for five required workshops and an elective workshop.  It is designed for housing professionals with less than five years of Florida-based affordable housing experience.  Those professionals with more experience may benefit from participation in Advanced Curriculum classes.
