While more of a Florida story than necessarily a housing story, New York Times writer, and former FHC Conference keynote speaker Jason Deparle writes about families who are living on nothing but food stamps. According to an anlysis conducted by the New York Times, 6 million food stamp recipients report that they have no other income. In Florida the number of people with no income beyond food stamps has doubled in two years and has more than tripled along once-thriving parts of the southwest coast. Many of the interviews in the story are with Floridians receiving food stamps.
